Magnolia

Saucer Magnolia (from Eastasia, most commonly planted in Europe today)

Magnolia stellata (native to Japan)

Magnolia is a plant genus of more than 200 species called after the French botanist Pierre Magnol.

The natural habitat of Magnolia is east and southeast Asia, eastern North America, central America, the West Indies and South America.

Fossilized parts of Magnolia were dated back to 95 million years ago.

132 od 245 Magnolia species are endangered plants, since the natural habitats get more and more destroyed.

I am still looking around for a Magnolia Liliiflora (which I personally like best) in our neighborhod to show a picture of it's wonderful purple blossoms. The one in our front garden seems not to bloom this year.... Edit: I finally found one :-)
